CDL vs. Non-CDL Driver Positions

All Route drivers require a CDL license with a passenger endorsement. Route drivers must be able to follow a published route schedule, collect fares, secure mobility devices, complete trip sheets, and conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles.

Demand Response and Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) drivers do not require a CDL license but must have a Class D license and a clean driving record. Demand Response and NEMT drivers operate transit vans and smaller buses, transporting passengers to designated locations following a scheduled manifest.
